Interfraternity Council
The purpose of the Saint Louis University Interfraternity Council is to encourage members to learn and grow through brotherhood and shared values.
SLU is the proud home of nine Interfraternity Council fraternities, which have the support of alumni in St. Louis and around the country. Our oldest chapter has been chartered at SLU since 1927, giving our fraternal community a long-standing history on campus. Each fraternity brings something unique to the community.
We welcome you to explore our organizations. Whether you are looking for involvement in an intramural team, a cheering section at Billiken athletic events, a study group at Pius Library, a service trip with Women's Safe House, or a group to relax with on a Saturday night, you can find it in an IFC Fraternity.
Interfraternity Council Recruitment Information
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) hosts both Primary Recruitment and continuous recruitment. All active IFC chapters will participate in Primary Recruitment this Fall term. Select IFC chapters participate in continuous recruitment each term.
Primary Recruitment
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) hosts Primary Recruitment at the beginning of each term. The next primary recruitment will take place Sept. 12-21, 2026. Prior to the process, we will host meet and greets, orientation, and a chance to learn more about the council and the recruitment process. Registration opens May 1, 2026 and closes Sept. 16, 2026. Registration is required to be eligible to receive a bid for membership.
There is a nonrefundable registration fee of $20 for Primary Recruitment. This fee covers recruitment materials, events, food and more. Registering and participating in Primary Recruitment does not guarantee a bid for membership.
For more information, contact the Interfraternity Council vice president of recruitment at ifc.recruitment@slu.edu.

Continuous Recruitment
Outside of primary recruitment in both the fall and spring terms, select chapters participate in continuous recruitment, also known as 365 recruitment. A chapter participating in continuous recruitment will typically advertise on its social media and host events to learn more.

Interfraternity Primary Recruitment Scholarship
The Interfraternity Council Primary Recruitment Scholarship application for Fall 2026 will open this summer.
A select number of needs-based scholarships will be offered to waive registration fees for any male-identifying student interested in participating in IFC Primary Recruitment.
There are costs associated with fraternity and sorority life. You will learn more about the financial commitment during the recruitment process. Our fraternity and sorority life community seeks to mitigate as many barriers as possible to increase accessibility. If you follow through with recruitment and become initiated into a chapter, typically there are further scholarship opportunities available, such as the SLU IFC Scholarships and chapter-specific scholarships. It is important to note that receiving a scholarship does not guarantee a bid from any chapter.
