One-Time Volunteer Opportunities

Saint Louis University’s Center for Social Action promotes many forms of community engagement, from episodic service to more in-depth involvement. This list of one-time volunteer opportunities will help SLU students, faculty or staff make a difference based on your schedule and interests. Many are perfect for groups.

Summer

Girls Scouts of Eastern Missouri

What: Volunteers are needed for our Girl Scout Day Camp, assisting staff with activities, games, lessons and other areas.
When: Anytime 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., any day June 8-12

St. Louis Children's Hospital Cerebral Palsy Sports Program  

What: Volunteers are needed for our Camp Independence - help with our summer day camp, engaging children with Cerebral Palsy in a variety of activities, sports, and other educational and recreational programming.
When: Any weekday June 8 thru July 24, 8:30am-4pm (shifts available)

Register for St. Louis Children's Hospital Cerebral Palsy Sports Program

Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House

What: Volunteers are needed to help with our Gabby’s Dollhouse Fairylandia exhibit, assisting with directing guests as they explore the Butterfly House, making terrariums, crafting paper flower crowns, navigating their “meet & greet” timed ticketing, scavenger hunts, and more!
When: Shifts available for 8 - 11 a.m., 10:45 a.m. - 1:45 p.m., or 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. on both Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14.

Find the Light Foundation

What: Volunteers are needed for our Find the Light Festival event, to celebrate and raise awareness for mental health support among young adults.
When: Sunday, June 14 with shifts available anytime 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Black Power Blueprint

What: Volunteers are needed for our Shamba La Uhuru Freedom Farm, helping tend to community gardens that provide fresh produce to families living in food deserts in North St. Louis.
When: 9 a.m. - Noon on Saturdays - June 20, July 4 and July 18

Da Hood Connect

What: Volunteers are needed for our quarterly Family Resource Fair to assist residents of North St. Louis, helping greet guests, manage registration table, and general event support.
When: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday, July 18

American Council of the Blind

What: Volunteers are needed for the American Council of the Blind National Conference, occurring in St. Louis. Assist with such roles as welcome and check-in, helping attendees navigate the exhibit hall, hospitality stations, and general event support.
When: Multiple shifts available each day from Friday, July 24 though Friday, July 31.
